INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

Since its establishment the Institute of Economics – Skopje has achieved fruitful international cooperation in the field of scientific research, teaching and educational activities. In the last 10 years the Institute has realized the following significant international cooperation.  

  • Since 2012 the Institute of Economics – Skopje together with the Institute of Economics – Sarajevo; Institute of Economics – Zagreb; Faculty of Economics – Podgorica, University of Montenegro; Institute for Economic Development – Ljubljana and the Institute for Economic Science – Belgrade founded the International Association SEEA (Southeastern Europe Association). SEEA is preparing an international publication “SEE-6 Economic Outlook”. The first issue of SEE-6 Economic Outlook was published in November 2015 and up to now 10 editions have been published.
  • In 2014, the Institute of Economics – Skopje started cooperation with the Faculty CEMAFI International, University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, Nice, France and in October 2014 organized the international conference on: Contemporary Trends and Prospects of Economic Recovery.
  • As a result of the cooperation with the association DemoBalk, in October 2015 in Ohrid, the Fifth International Conference on Demography in the Balkans “Population of the Balkans on the threshold of the 21st century” was successfully realized.
  • In 2015, cooperation with the State University ULUDAG – Bursa, Turkey was made, pertaining to academic staff mobility, joint participation in international projects and organizing international conferences. Within the cooperation the international symposium 4th International Symposium on Accounting and Finance ISAF was held in July 2017, organized by MUFAD – Turkey, Uludag University – Bursa, Turkey and Institute of Economics – Skopje. Additionaly, the Erasmus cooperation agreement was signed by the Uludag University – Bursa, Turkey and “St Cyril and Methodius” University in Skopje.

  • In October 2017 in Ohrid, the 3rd China CEE conference was held, on the topic: The role of human capital in the One Belt One Road initiative. The conference was organized by Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje; Confucius Institute;  Faculty of Economics – Skopje;   Institute of Economics – Skopje; University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Economics (Slovenia). It was supported by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Institute for European Studies in Beijing.
  • In April 2018, the Institute of Economics – Skopje started cooperation with the “Southwestern University of Finance and Economics” at the Faculty “School of securities and futures”, Republic of China. Since June 2018, the Dean of the Faculty of “School of securities and futures”, Republic of China, is a member of the editorial board in the Economic development journal. That year, the Institute also begins the cooperation with the University of Management in Varna.
  • In 2019, the Institute of Economics – Skopje initiated cooperation with the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities – Skopje and The School of Economic and Regional Studies, University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, and from 2020 fruitful cooperation is realized with the University of Economics and Technology TOBB ETÜ from Turkey.

Renowned professors from the various universities are guest lecturers at the Institute of Economics – Skopje. Also, professors from the Institute are visiting professors and researchers at the international universities through the ERASMUS.
