Brief biography about Iskra Stancheva – Gigov Ph.D.

 

Iskra Stancheva – Gigov was born in 1977 in Skopje. In 2001, she graduated from the Faculty of Economics, University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje (UKIM). In 2006, she earned master’s degree in International Economics from the Institute of Economics – Skopje, UKIM. In 2013, at the Institute of Economics – Skopje, UKIM she defended the doctoral dissertation “The impact of the foreign trade on economic growth in Republic of Macedonia”.

She joined the Institute of Economics – Skopje, UKIM in 2002 and her current position is Associate Professor/Senior Research Associate of International Economics. Since 2019, she has been the Deputy Director for Science and International Cooperation.

She has participated in national and international scientific research and applied projects. The following can be distinguished: Entrepreneurial Learning Exchange Initiative for Sustainable Hospitality SMEs in the Balkan-Mediterranean Region, programme: Interreg Balkan – Mediterranean HELIX, TNCP Balkan – Mediterranean 2014 – 2020; Skills Development and Innovation Support Project-Contract for Development and Design of the Concept for Secondary TVET; Digital transformation journey of Gazelle, ICS GRUP & Fund for Innovation and Technological Development; etc. She has also taken a part in conferences, seminars and workshops in the country and abroad, project evaluation, and appears in the role of trainer.

She is an author and co-author of books, teaching aids, monographs, publications and more than 40 scientific papers published in the country and abroad. She also participates as an editor of proceeding(s), monographs, etc.

In the field of teaching and educational activity, she is engaged as an associate professor of postgraduate studies organized in the Institute of Economics – Skopje, UKIM and she teaches courses in International Trade, International Business, International Business Logistics, Foreign Exchange System and Operations etc. She is also included in the first cycle of studies at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy in Skopje at UKIM in the subject of Engineering Economics. In the third cycle of studies, she is engaged in the doctoral program for Economic sciences and Organizational sciences and management at the School for doctoral studies at UKIM.
