Brief biography about Klimentina Poposka Ph.D.

Klimentina Poposka was born in Skopje. In 1996, she graduated from the Faculty of Economics, University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje, at the department of Business Economics. In 2001, she earned master’s degree in Monetary Economics from the Faculty of Economics, UKIM. In 2007, at the Institute of Economics, UKIM, she defended her doctoral dissertation “Success and profitability of Commercial Banks”.

In 2008, she joined the Institute of Economics–Skopje, UKIM, and her current appointment is Fulltime professor of Finance. She teaches courses on second and third cycle such as Commercial Banking, Corporate Finance, International Finance, SME Financing, Risk Management, etc. Since 2018 she is head of the Department of Economic Sciences and member of the Institute’s Board. She is member of the University Professional Council for Doctoral Studies from 2020. She is certificated trainer for “Bank economy” from Bankakademie, Frankfurt, Germany and “Personal Finance” from MFC, Poland. As visiting professor she has been working at Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, Germany (DAAD), University of Applied Science, Department of Business Administration, Koblenz, Germany, University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Economics, Slovenia (ERASMUS), as well as visiting researcher at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Supervisory Policy Analysis Department, USA (JFDP).She has lead and actively participated in numerous research and applied projects, as well as in conferences and study visits. Some of the more distinguished projects are “Bank Economy” Bankakademie, Frankfurt (2000-2005); Banking Environment and Performance study (Bakakademie eG, Frankfurt); Social performance tools in Microfinance (ACT, LLC, Washington, DC); Personal Finance and Debt Management, MFC (2009-2013), EU Evaluation Projects (2017-2022), etc. Most significant study visits are: CEU, Budapest; St. Petersburg State University, Russia; CEU, Warsaw; Washington university in St. Louis, USA, (academic 2003/2004, JFDP); Volksbank eG, Boppard, Germany (2005, 2007 and 2008); Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, Germany, etc.  As far as conferences, few can be mentioned:  Nice Sophia Antipolis University, France; Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, USA; WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management, Vallender, Germany; University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia, USA; Olin Business School, WashU, USA; University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA; etc. She is a recipient of several awards and scholarships: ERASMUS (2019); DAAD (2008); HESP Returning Fellow (2004/2005); US Department of State/American Councils JFDP (2003/2004); IMG/TEMPUS (2003), European Commission, etc. She is an author and co-author of 8 books and over 65 scientific papers.
