Brief biography about Zoran Janevski Ph.D.

Dr. Zoran Janevski was born in Skopje in 1967. In 1997, he graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” University in Skopje, at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications, on the topic “Business reengineering”. He obtained his Master’s degree from the Institute of Economics – Skopje in 2008, with his thesis titled “Electronic commerce: opportunities and prospects for small and medium enterprises”. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Economics in 2011 on the thesis “Electronic commerce and entrepreneurship as factors of competitiveness of enterprises”.

In the period from 1990-2001, he was professionally engaged as a specialist and a member of the management teams of several companies in the information and communications technology (ICT) industry.

Since 2001, as an independent consultant specializing in ICT he has been actively involved in the implementation of projects in the private and public sector in the country and abroad. During that period he was hired by the Belgian company Business & Strategies in Europe, the National Bank of Greece and other organizations in the region and beyond. In the period untill 2006, he designed and managed many projects for UNDP, OSCE, the European Agency for Reconstruction, several ministries and the Government of the Republic of Macedonia.

Since June 2007, Dr. Janevski has been employed at the Institute of Economics – Skopje, where in 2020 was elected to the highest teching title full professor in the field of Entrepreneurship.

From 2012 untill today, he has been appointed as a head of the master’s study program in Entrepreneurship.

In the period from 2016 to 2019 he was a member of the Commission for Information Technology, and from 2021 until today he is e member of the Commission for self-evaluation at the “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” University in Skopje.

During the period 2020-2021, he was a member of the Working Group for drafting a new Law on Scientific Research, established by the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of North Macedonia.

From January to June 2018, he held the position of acting director, and from June 2018 until today he is the Director of the Institute of Economics – Skopje. In January 2022, the University Senate passed a decision confirming the election of Dr. Zoran Janevski as a Director of the Institute for another term for the period 2022-2025.

During his work experience, Dr. Zoran Janevski has achieved several study stays, at: Governance Academy in Tallinn, Estonia; UNDP – office in Kyiv, Ukraine; Paisij Hilendarski University, Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and others.

He has participated in numerous scientific research conferences and trainings in the field of Entrepreneurship, Digital Economy and Electronic Business and has published several scientific research and professional papers, textbooks, teaching materials and monographs in the country and abroad on the same topics.

Dr. Zoran Janevski participates in a number of international and national scientific research and application projects as a principal investigator or research team member.
